So it should be, that none but Antony Should conquer Antony.
--William Shakespeare
Antony and Cleopatra, 4. 3. 14
After the assassination of the mighty Julius Caesar, you rose from the chaos to reign supreme, only to lose it all again for the love of a beautiful queen. With this exquisite deck, Legends Playing Cards invites you to step into the sandals of Mark Antony and the greatest love affair of the ancient world.
The court cards portray twelve great figures of Mark Antony's era: his love Cleopatra, his mentor Julius Caesar, his scorned wife Octavia Minor, his rival Augustus, the assassins Marcus Brutus and Cassius, and more. The number cards feature a Roman shield in the center, with pips arranged on either side as opposing "soldiers" of this new stage of the Roman Civil War. The card backs portray Antony's death by suicide after his defeat by the future emperor Augustus.
The tuck box is printed with a four-color process, gold foil, and embossing, and features Antony's famous cry "TARUM ET CLAMA DIMIT CANIBUS QUATIT": "Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war!"
